• The new school year has begun and there is work to be done!  Music syllabi will be handed out as soon as I receive concert dates from neighboring districts to avoid conflicts. Pep Band is starting up this week on Thursday the 1st and Friday the 2nd.

Please encourage your 5th and 6th graders to keep practicing even if their first sounds are a little rough! The more they practice, the faster they will sound better!

As always, it's a pleasure to serve this community and I look forward to your attendance at school and local music events!

Mr. Derek Larson

Derek Larson is the K-12 music teacher for the St. Regis School. An active performer and composer, he believes firmly in providing the best musical education possible and presenting that program as often as possible to the St. Regis community and surrounding areas. To that end, the St. Regis music program performs much more than other typical Class C Montana schools. He also enjoys challenging the students to consistently surpass the expectation of small school music programs. In addition to the typical winter and spring music concerts, the St. Regis music program also produces staged works and dinner theaters throughout the year.

Committed 100% to increasing the opportunity for Mineral County residents to experience live music, Derek also participates in and/or organizes many musical events that happen throughout the year including the marching band, the ecumenical choir, and occasional performances in the DeBorgia Schoolhouse and other venues.
