My week in Illinois kept me hopping. Every day was an adventure of a lifetime.  Seeing Lincoln’s home, his law office, the old state capital, New Salem (where he lived as a young man), the Lincoln Presidential Library, the vault where some of the artifacts are stored, and the Lincoln Presidential Museum and behind the scenes of some exhibits was overwhelming.

I learned so much and saw so many things; I am still processing all the information. Over the summer I will display some of the pictures and discuss the story that goes with them. The picture of me with Lincoln was taken outside of our hotel on Thursday evening. He just happened to be walking by as our group returned to the hotel after our final banquet. He was part of a “Living History” program that takes place every summer in Springfield.

I enjoyed my trip, but I am happy to be home and away from the high heat and humidity of Illinois.
